From your lists I have read:
Les Miserables Notre Dame de Paris (for my French class, it was a pain).
I don't actually have many favorite books so far...
(Ontdekking van de Hemel)Discovery of Heaven - Harry Mulisch (Dutch writer)
Les Miserables
Harry Potter (mostly the fifth book... Snape... Drool...)
Some books of Nicci French
The Witches - Roald Dahl
And that's about it actually... I don't know why I have so few... I like reading... I just never have the time. And when I do, I need to read it for my school... Argh.

Goodness, you all read a lot of the old classics. I'm getting into that, though I'm more of a fantasy person myself. Yes, I love Harry Potter too, forgot to mention that. Don't worry, I'm a dork, too...there was a guy in the musical I was just in who looked so much like Harry Potter, it was very scary. SK's Phantom is wonderful, but it has some definite inconsitencies. Nadir and Giovanni's part were wonderful, but the ending was just...blech. Not right at all.

I used to be such an utter fantasy fiend... and then I just sort of slowly switched over to classics.
SK's Phantom has definate bad romance novel undertones... but it's still lovely to read.

Hello
I tried to hide my age, but it was bound to come out .
At 33, i feel slightly out of place. You guys are SO much younger than me, and i feel old here. .
Anyway, I am a bookholic. So, i have read quite a lot by now. From the ones you mentioned i read:
Les Miserables The Hunchback of Notre-Damme ( i LOVE Asmeralda) Gone with the Wind ( for long time my favourite novel, but the more i got older, the less i like it. ) Hamlet. Well, i read pretty much all Shakespeare, but his tragedies are the ones that stand out for me.
I read pretty much everything. There are two geners that i don't like however: Supernaturals, and Romances. I am not big fan of fantasies either. Harry Potter and LOTR never interested me.
In general my favourites are "social" novels. However, i do also like to read humour, and mysteries.
From my recent reads, i liked very much:
Sons & Lovers by D.H. Lawrence (If you love detailed character descriptions, and what they go through READ IT ) A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry ( Excellent novel) Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
.....and for humour, especially if you are British:A Starter for Ten by David Nicholls. It may appeal to those who are just starting University as well.
Of course there are lots of wonderful books, but maybe some other time.

The Firm Lord of the Flies Watership Down The Crystal Cave The Hollow Hills The Last Enchantment His Dark Materials series LotR series The Silmarillion Harry Potter series

Yes, the last part of SK's Phantom was just...gah, I can NEVER read it now. Twice was more than enough...now I just stop at the very end where Erik says, "Whatever dark and shadowed path this may lead, we were both condemned to follow it to the bitter end" or something like that, I don't have it right in front of me.
Okay, I do have a question...what's so sexy about Snape from Harry Potter? I've never seen it. I'd love for an explanation...

I have to reincarnate an abandonned topic...
I feel pretty dumb right now. I either haven't heard of most of these books or tried to read them and gave up. I think this is because I'm a little younger than some people here. (I just turned 14) Anyway, here are some my favorites.
Catcher in the Rye- J.D. Salinger Les Miserables- Victor Hugo Huckleberry Finn- Mark Twain To Kill a Mockingbird- Harper Lee (If you haven't read this, take it out of the library. now.) The Diary of Anne Frank- Anne Frank The Outsiders- S.E. Hinton Ella Enchanted- Gail Carson Levine (Another book Disney Killed...) The Adventures of Tom Saywer- Mark Twain
And then there's the Scarlet Pimpernel. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm enjoying it.

So you are interested in our (I'm Dutch) Anne Frank? Did you ever see the House? (I'm not sure what it is called exactly in English) I did visit it one and a half year ago, it is bound to make you sad.

Anne Frank is amazing. I think I've read her diary twice and I've read a few other books about her. I've never visted her house, but my parents did when they were in the Netherlands. They showed me a couple of pamphlets they got there. One day I'd like to visit it.
In English, it's just called "The Anne Frank Museum" or the Anne Frank House. (At least that's what I've been told...) So you were right.
